How do I get started? How does the admissions and enrollment process work for Online Studies?
The admissions process for online students is not very different from the admissions process for on-campus students. You can learn about the enrollment and admissions process on our website, or first speak with an Admissions Representative by calling 888-544-4422 or using the online Admissions contact form.
Since every student is unique and has different needs, Harrison assigns an Admissions Representative to work closely with you to simplify the admissions process.
How do online classes work?
Online classes are 100% online, meaning you never—unless you want to—visit a physical Harrison campus. Once enrolled, you’ll receive log-in information, class materials and instructions on how to access classes. We even provide an online “mini-course” for first-time online students which you can take prior to the start of the quarter. This will get you familiar with how the whole process works. For more information about how online classes work, read How Online Studies Work.
What kind of computer do I need?
You will need a personal computer, an Internet connection and specific software. You can read detailed technology requirements here.
What degrees and academic programs are offered as Online Studies programs?
It is important to note that our list of online academic programs expands regularly so if you’re considering earning your degree online with Harrison, check our list of online academic programs more than once and please contact a Program Specialist by calling 888-544-4422 or using the online Admissions contact form.
How much does it cost?
Harrison tuition costs vary based on program.
Is there financial aid available for Online Studies?
Yes! Studying online does not exclude you from college financial aid at all. In fact, 93% of all Harrison students receive some form of financial aid, regardless of whether they attend campus or online classes. We encourage you to read about Financial Aid on this website and to contact an Harrison Admissions Representative by calling 888-544-4422 or by using the online Admissions contact form. Our friendly Program Specialists can answer all your financial aid questions and get you started on financing your Harrison education.
Does studying online help me complete a degree faster?
That’s a complicated question, because regardless of whether you take classes online or on campus, what controls the length of study is the number of credit hours you take per quarter. Studying online might actually provide the flexibility you need to take additional credit hours per quarter that you otherwise could not have taken, and therefore will allow you to complete your degree in less time.
Other factors that affect your length of study include testing out of courses or transferring credits from previous education.
What happens if I move?
As long as you have access to a computer and the Internet, you can continue your online classes from anywhere in the world.
Will Harrison accept my credits from another school?
Harrison College considers credits for transfer from accredited colleges. You can discuss the specifics with your Program Specialist.
Does Harrison give college credit for life or work experience?
No. Harrison does not award college credit for life or work experience. You do, however, have the ability to obtain credit for classes via Credit by Examination if you feel you already have the knowledge and experience and don’t need to take that class. There is a fee for taking the exam and a minimum required score. You can learn more about testing out of credits by visiting the Testing Out section of this website.
How long has Harrison College been around? Is it accredited?
Harrison College was established in 1902. It is Nationally Accredited. For more information about Harrison College and our accreditation, please visit the Accreditation and Memberships section on this website.
Do you accept international students?
Yes. Harrison College currently accepts international students to our Online Studies programs. An official transcript from the student’s high school and/or college translated into English must come from the school in a sealed envelope. This can be mailed to: Harrison Online, ATTN: Online Admissions, 500 North Meridian Street, Suite 500, Indianapolis, IN 46204, USA. Other restrictions may also apply. Please contact 888-544-4422 and talk to a Harrison Admissions Representative.
What if I have technical or other problems with my online classes? Who will help me?
If you have problems with online classes, don’t worry. Each class has its own instructor, and you can always contact that instructor for questions and assistance with your online class. You also have the support of the Harrison Online Staff who are available to assist you.
Most importantly, there is online technical support, not only within ANGEL (our online classroom partner) but also inside the Harrison Online Solution Center. So you’re never alone when you have questions or need assistance. Help and assistance is often only an e-mail or phone call away.
