Indianapolis, Ind. (January 11, 2015) — Corrections Corporation of America, which oversees Marion County Jail II, is partnering with Harrison College’s downtown campus, for a job fair this Friday, January 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to recruit and hire up to 40 correctional officer positions and other key staff roles needing to be filled at the facility.
Recruiters will be on-site to interview candidates, and correctional officers will be present at the campus, located at 550 E. Washington Street, to answer attendees’ questions about day-to-day experiences. Select candidates will be shuttled to Jail II to tour the facilities with Assistant Warden Lakichia Wilson. Contingent job offers may be made on the spot.
Starting salaries for correctional officers is $12.89/hour and $14.55 for sergeants, with all employees working a 12-hour shift.
Harrison is hosting the job fair, open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED who is interested in learning more about the field of criminal justice. Harrison admissions representatives will be on hand to provide information regarding Harrison’s criminal justice degree programs, which can be completed on ground at the downtown campus, online or through a blended program.
“We invite anyone from the Indianapolis community who is seeking employment and is interested in criminal justice and law enforcement to attend,” said Ryon Kaopuiki, campus president of the Harrison College downtown campus location. “While correctional officers are in high-demand, attendees also will have the opportunity to learn more about Harrison’s criminal justice programs, because earning a degree is a critical component to finding advancement in this field.”
