Information Technology Programs

Once you are enrolled in the School of Information Technology, you will find a number of IT programs that present the opportunity for you to earn a certification, associate degree or bachelor’s degree. We are formally associated with the following programs to help you gain the experience you need to feel confident in a new career:

10 Reasons to Choose the IT Program at Harrison College

  1. Our degree programs roll into one another without the loss of credits. You might start by pursuing a nine-month Help Desk Certificate, then decide to roll those courses into an AAS Network Degree. You can do this—all with no loss of credits earned.
  2. The Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology program offers courses in virtualization, security and project management, three of the fastest growing fields in IT.
  3. We offer instruction for you to earn as many as 17 different industry certifications with tests that can be taken conveniently at one of our campuses.
  4. We have Academic Partnerships of Associations with VMWare, Cisco, Microsoft, EMC and CompTIA, giving you access to their curriculum.
  5. We offer credit for IT certifications if obtained within the last two years, which allows you to earn your degree faster.
  6. We provide virtualization classes that teach all three virtualization platforms: VMWare, Citrix Xen and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  7. You can get hands-on experience through a four-credit hour class that provides you 130 hours of in-field experience with an IT firm.
  8. Our IT program has small class sizes that offer more one-on-one attention to give you the support you deserve.
  9. We are a member of the National Center for Women in IT (NCWIT).  
  10. We provide special tutoring if needed to ensure your success.

Role at Harrison

With more than 17 years of experience in higher, adult and distance education as a student and faculty member, Sean Milliner maintains a record of success in helping students achieve their academic and professional goals. He brings this past to Harrison as the Curriculum Manager of the School of Information Technology where he is responsible for the growth and development procedures and curricula. So far, he has increased professional development opportunities for online faculty by 65%.

Professional History

While Milliner worked as a training and support specialist at Krieg DeVault Alexander & Capehart, LLP beginning in 1996, he started his career in higher education at Ivy Tech in 1999 as an IT instructor. He expanded his professional repertoire as an adult programs instructor at Marian University. Milliner is also the co-owner of Four Paws Home Computer Services, where he specializes in small office computer consulting, customer computer design and upgrade and repair of existing computer equipment.
