The Indiana Commission of Higher Education, Board of Proprietary Education, just approved the programs submitted by National American University (NAU) for the Harrison College teach-out. The next step now is for NAU to obtain approval from the Indiana State Board of Nursing (ISBN). Because it is a single teach-out agreement, this approval must be obtained, even for non-nursing program teach-out approval, in order for the agreement to be presented to the Department of Education for approval. As soon as we know when the ISBN meeting has been scheduled, we will update this website.
The programs in the teach-out agreement include the online programs addressed in the current transfer agreement between the two institutions and the following ground programs offered at Harrison’s East Indianapolis campus:
We had approximately 275,000 transcripts to export to the appropriate agencies. We continue to export transcripts for Parchment and the states of Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina, and will send once all exports are completed. Ten out of the twenty-one campuses have been pulled. We hope to have all records to Parchment and the states by October 26, 2018.

The Indiana Commission of Higher Education, Board of Proprietary Education, has delayed the meeting to discuss/approve the teach-out between Harrison College and National American University (NAU) until October 16, 2018.

Re: Student Payments and Loans
In order to dispel rumors, we want to clarify that Harrison College and The Chef’s Academy have not received any federal or private student loans or grants or VA funds for any future time period including the quarter that was to begin September 24. In rare instances, some students prepaid cash for the next quarter and those refunds are being been processed.
If you prepaid your tuition for the Fall 2018 term, please reach out by email to Harrison College at email@example.com so that we can get those funds returned to you immediately.

Dear Harrison College Stakeholders,
As you know, we made the very difficult decision to close down the operations of Harrison College, effective September 16, 2018, and The Chef’s Academy (TCA), effective October 14, 2018. We are working hard to find a path forward for every single Harrison and TCA student.
We have been working with the State of Indiana – Commission on Higher Education (CHE) Board of Proprietary Education since the day the decision to cease operations was made as well as the Indiana State Board of Nursing (ISBN). We were seeking their approvals to allow National American University to provide additional Harrison College programs like nursing through a teach-out.
The process that must occur is CHE must approve first, then the ISBN (for nursing programs), then the accreditors and the US Department of Education (DOE).
Unfortunately, the CHE cannot meet until October 12. With their approvals, National American University can teach-out our nursing programs and several other programs listed below using Harrison curriculum and faculty benefiting an additional 489 Harrison students.
The following programs are up for approval by CHE and/or ISBN:
In addition, an approved teach-out agreement with National American University (NAU) allows for NAU to waive the requirement that students must complete 25% or more of a program at the new institution. Thus, the student has a reasonable opportunity to preserve all credits and remain on the same timeframe to degree completion.
Currently approximately 596 of our students were eligible to transfer to NAU for their October 1 start. In addition, we have worked on several transfer and articulation agreements in OH, IN and NC for more of our students. With the above approvals we will have found a credible pathway for over 1300 of our 1400 students and we are actively working to provide an opportunity for our Vet Tech students in Indianapolis and any other student not covered by the above.

After 116 years serving Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina, Harrison College has made the difficult business decision to close operations effective Sunday, September 16, 2018, and for the The Chef’s Academy (TCA )Sunday, October 14, 2018 (the end of their current term).
We are working with transfer and teach-out partners including State governing bodies and our accreditors to ensure each student has a pathway to complete their education.
National American University (NAU), an HLC-accredited institution, is Harrison College’s preferred transfer institution within Indiana. Please note that Harrison College is working diligently with governing bodies to expand this list, including further teach-out* arrangements with NAU and other institutions.
For students in Ohio, we are working closely with the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools to identify transfer/teach-out partners.
For students in North Carolina, we will be working with nearby institutions for transfer options for our students.
For updates in the future, we will be adding information to the www.harrison.edu website to help students. We will be posting transfer options for each Harrison and TCA campus as well as information related to how to get your academic and financial transcripts.
We are in the process of emailing each active Harrison College student (who was active as of 9-14-2018) an Official Transcript.
Active students from The Chef’s Academy will be emailed their transcripts after final grades have posted on Monday, October 15, 2018.
As a permanent record, we are working to:
