Accreditations & Memberships

Harrison College offers quality in education because we are accredited and regulated by numerous national organizations. Explore this page to learn more about our accreditations and memberships.

Accreditation and Approvals

On December 22, 2016, Harrison signed a Provisional Program Participation Agreement (“PPPA”) with the U.S. Department of Education, which allows Harrison to maintain their accredited status and continue to participate in Title IV programs until June 12, 2018. According to the Department of Education, by signing this PPPA “the Secretary deems the institution to hold recognized accreditation” until June 12, 2018 “notwithstanding the loss of recognition of its accrediting agency.”

Harrison College has applied for accreditation with a national accreditor. On January 19, 2017 we received notice that Harrison College met initial eligibility requirements and that our application was in-process. Harrison College will be considered for full accreditation at their Board Meeting scheduled for July 19-21, 2017.

The Harrison College Veterinary Technology program, which is offered at the campuses listed below, is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities, www.avma.org. Effective April 23, 2017, the program is placed on probationary accreditation. This status does not affect eligibility to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and State exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT.) Additionally, graduates of a program with probationary accreditation are considered graduates of an accredited program.

AVMA placed the program on probationary accreditation because of the Secretary of the United States Department of Education’s decision to withdraw recognition of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), Harrison College’s former institutional accrediting agency. The AVMA does not consider the College’s approved status by the USDE as equivalent to the recognition of an institutional accrediting agency.
