Lafayette, Ind. (June 29, 2016) — Harrison College, a nationally accredited, career-focused higher education institution serving more than 3,000 students, recently named Jason Newhouser as dean of academic affairs for Harrison’s Lafayette campus.
As dean, Newhouser provides strategic vision and leadership to the academic affairs staff at the Lafayette campus and lead the development of campus faculty. He also is assisting faculty and students as classes begin at the new campus at 323 Columbia Street in downtown Lafayette.
“Our new facility has upgraded classrooms equipped with new technology and more space, allowing Jason more opportunities to challenge our faculty and students to utilize the space to its full potential,” said Cindy Clampitt, campus president of Harrison College in Lafayette. “Jason is a motivated and enthusiastic leader in the classroom, and I believe his experience is a great asset to us.”
Newhouser has worked at Harrison for seven years, most recently as a general education adjunct professor. Newhouser has also spent the last 14 years at Jefferson High School teaching English, speech and theater.
“My philosophy on education mirrors Harrison’s mission to empower students to improve their lives through an education that ultimately leads to a better career,” said Newhouser. “I believe students learn best when they take ownership of their own education.”
Newhouser earned a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in curriculum and instruction and is currently pursuing a second master’s degree from Purdue University in communication studies. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in English education from Ball State University.
