Indianapolis, Ind. (May 18, 2016) — Harrison College, a nationally accredited, career-focused higher education institution serving more than 3,000 students worldwide, will honor 253 graduates from its four Indianapolis-area campuses on Saturday, May 21.
Students from Harrison’s Downtown, East and Northwest Indianapolis campuses, along with its culinary institute – The Chef’s Academy at Harrison College – will receive degrees in business, criminal justice, health sciences, information technology, veterinary technology, culinary arts and pastry arts.
“A college degree has never been more important and these graduates now have the skills, training and knowledge to become integral parts of growing the Central Indiana economy,” said James D. Hutton, President and CEO of Harrison College. “Our graduates have committed a tremendous amount of time and energy to get to this point, and we are honored to be able to celebrate their achievements with family and friends.”
DeShong Perry-Smitherman, communications manager for AES, will deliver the keynote address. Perry-Smitherman is responsible for communications to a variety of stakeholders, including 3,500 AES employees and the public. Before taking her latest role, DeShong worked as the public relations manager for the Eiteljorg Museum. She is also the co-founder of A Girls Gift, Inc., a non-profit organization that trains middle school girls to write solid business plans and pitch their products to potential investors.
